Westfield Celebrates it's 150th

With a wonderful sunny day this past Sunday 25th May, the club celebrated a 150 years of Cricket & Bowls at it's home ground at Westfield Sports Club. With our special guest of Woking MP, Will Foster who presented awards, cut the celebration cake and playing some bowls where he demonstrated great potential before enjoying a pint at the clubs bar.

The occasion was an ideal time to show off its new permanent canopy, a new artificial cricket wicket, bowls new electric sun shade, plus the new clubhouse carpet, all funded from Surrey County Council Playing Fields Association.

So if you have not yet visited us, please come along as the club is always open to new members for bowls, cricket or darts, ensuring we keep the community club running for another 150 years.

Westfield Bowls Club Open Day - Sunday 4th May

As you will hopefully be aware, the club is holding an Open Day on Sunday 4th May between 10.30am and 5pm.  Please make the effort to come along for a fun filled day and support & promote your club.  Why not bring along a friend, neighbour or the whole family, all will be made very welcome.

Obviously, the main purpose of the day is to hopefully attract and welcome new players to come along to join us, coupled with an ideal opportunity to showcase to all the merits and benefits of joining our great club.

We are proposing to hold an open buffet table so please bring a plate of appetizing nibbles both savoury and sweet for all to share over lunch time.  If you’re not sure what to bring, give Pauline a ring (01483 833773) who will coordinate the goodies. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day plus the bar will be open for drinks with our guest.

As far as dress is concerned, we would like to keep it fairly informal so maybe just your club shirt with causal slacks/skirts.

So please come along, support the club and maybe help out on the green in tutoring some of our guest.

Open Club (Night) - Walking Cricket

Following the success of our first Open Club Night, the next club night will be this coming Friday 7th June batting off at around 2pm. Early yes!!! but should be great fun as Walking Cricket is planned to have it's first outing. Of course you will still be able to have a roll up and join in other fun games in the lounge/bar. So bring along family and friends and support the club.

Bowls Club "Open Day" - Cancelled

It is with regret that due to heavy rain over the last few days, the green has become unplayable at present. Therefore, to protect the green the clubs "Open Day" has sadly been cancelled. Hopefully, with an improvement in the weather, we are looking to reschedule the event sometime in the coming weeks.

Bowls Open Day - 5th May

Due to our green still closed due to the flooding, members are not visiting the club to enter their names for forthcoming games. This is causing a major problem in putting teams together. So in the short term, would all members please ring either Cathy Miller, Peter Collyer or Peter Smith if you want to play in any forthcoming game.
